Day One: Arequipa – Reserva Pampa Cañahuas – Yanque

Your Colca Valley adventure begins with a visit to the lovely Pampa Cañahuas National Reserve. Here, you will meet a variety of Andean wildlife including llamas, vicuñas and Andean eagles! Following that, we climb up to Patapampa Pass and take in unparalleled views of the surrounding snow-capped volcanoes. Finally, you will descend into the Colca Valley and spend the night at the beautiful Killawasi Lodge in Yanque.

Day Two: Yanque – Cruz del Condor – Chivay – Arequipa

Take in a colourful performance of a traditional Wititi dance in the Yanque village, before heading up to Cruz del Condor lookout point to watch the magnificent Andean condors dancing on air! Next, we’ll drive along the rim of the beautiful Colca Canyon, discovering ancient Inca agricultural terraces that are still in use today by local Farmers, and stopping for photo opportunities at the ultimate panoramic viewpoints!

Day One: Arequipa - Reserva Pampa Cañahuas - Yanque

Welcome to the first day of the best Colca Canyon 2-day tour! You will picked up from your Hotel bright and early to begin your adventure into the Colca Valley! Your first stop will be the Pampa Cañahuas National Reserve. The National Reserve is located in the foothills of Chachani and Misti volcanoes, and offers spectacular panoramic views, as well as an abundance of Andean wildlife. Here, you will see herds of vicuñas, alpacas and llamas, and birdlife such as flamingos, ibises and even Andean Eagles! Next, you will climb up to the lofty Patapampa Pass (4900m/16,100ft), where you will take in the breath-taking views of the surrounding snow-capped volcanoes Ampato, Sabancaya and Hualca-Hualca. Next, you will descend to Chivay and into the Colca Valley, where you will spend the night at Killawasi Lodge, just outside the tranquil town of Yanque. Here, you can relax surrounded by beautiful scenery, and enjoy a short hike.     Included: Shared tourist transport, English-speaking guide, Accommodation at Killawasi lodge (based on twin or double bed),  Tourist admission tickets.   Not included: Lunch and Dinner, Tips.

Day Two: Yanque - Cruz del Condor - Chivay - Arequipa

This morning, you will enjoy an organic Andean breakfast of organic, before heading into Yanque to watch a colourful performance of the traditional indigenous Wititi dance. Then we’ll continue to the “Cruz del Condor”, a natural lookout point over Colca Canyon named for the colony of Andean condors that live nearby. Get your cameras ready! You will be lost for words as you watch these majestic birds soar through the air over the beautiful canyon. Next, you’ll drive along the rim of the Canyon, and enjoy fabulous views of the magnificent scenery. Colca Canyon is one of the deepest of its kind in the world. Its imposingly steep walls are criss-crossed with colourful fauna whilst Colca river glitters far below on the canyon floor. Discover the interaction of the canyon’s modern and ancient traditional cultures: Inca-era agricultural terraces are still used by modern farmers, and the regional varieties of potatoes and corn eaten by modern villagers were developed by their imperial ancestors. Your guide will introduce you to the history of this isolated region, and will show you the most beautiful viewpoints over the Canyon. Your tour will end at the village of Chivay, where you will stop for lunch at a traditional Peruvian restaurant before returning to your accommodation in Arequipa.   Included: Breakfast, shared tourist transportation, English-speaking guide.   Not included: Lunch and Tips.
