Day 01- Arrival in Quito – Monday
Firstly, you’ll arrive to Quito and be transferred to your luxury hotel, the historic Plaza Grande. Next, get ready to pull on a pair of comfortable shoes and explore Ecuador’s beautiful mountaintop capital! This elegant colonial town is one of the best-preserved sites in the Americas. Therefore, get your cameras ready to capture unique blend of Spanish, Moorish and indigenous architecture.
Day 02 – Start the Train Journey – Quito – Otavalo City – Quito – Tuesday
Today, you will begin your Quito to Guayaquil luxury train journey! The fabulous Tren Crucero is a steam engine fitted out with every luxury, so naturally the rail journey is one of the most spectacular in the world. Accordingly, your adventure begins by visiting the mountain town of Otavalo. This small village is the commercial hub for the surrounding Andean communities. Likewise, this exists as a prime setting for Ecuador’s largest indigenous market!
Day 03 – Train Journey Quito – Urbina – Wednesday
To start the day, you’ll continue your luxury train journey in Ecuador, stopping at the famous Avenue of Volcanoes. In addition, if you’ve lucked out with good weather, you can spot twenty peaks emerging from the pine forest, including the perfectly conical Volcano Cotopaxi. You’ll be glued to the window as the landscape runs full spectrum from subtropical forest to Andean highlands. Finally, your journey finishes in the foothills of Mt Chimborazo, the highest peak in Ecuador!
Day 04 – Riobamba – The Devil’s Nose – Bucay – Thursday
Get ready, because today you’ll board the luxury train and speed through a colourful patchwork of purple, yellow and red quinoa fields. Thereafter, you’ll visit the traditional Guamote market, which even spills over onto the train tracks! In the afternoon, you will visit the summit Devil’s Nose. Once there, you can zigzag down a 450 metre descent into the Chanchán river gorge, running the full gamut of microclimates from highland tundra to tropical coastal plains.
Day 05- Bucay – Guayaquil – Friday
Today, your steam railway takes you through Ecuador’s coastal lowlands. Here, the tropical climate is perfect for the vast plantations of sugar cane, pineapples and, of course, the all-important bananas! Next, sit back and relax: enjoy an organic lunch at a cocoa bean plantation before continuing to the colourful coastal city of Guayaquil, the gateway to the Galapagos Islands!
Day 06 – Galapagos Islands – Guayaquil – Baltra- Bachas Beach – Saturday
From hereon out, begin your adventure to one of the jewels South America: the Galapagos Islands! Primarily, you’ll take a morning flight from Guayaquil to Baltra Island, then board your Galapagos luxury cruise. Afterwards, you’ll spend the afternoon on Santa Cruz Island, enjoying your first swim and encounters with unique wildlife. Keep your eyes peeled and look out for the sea turtles that are known to nest off the island!
Day 07 – Bartolome Island & Sullivan Bay – Sunday
Wow, you’ve made it to the seventh day! Now, you’ll get visit to Bartolome Island, a long-extinct volcano splashed with red, orange, black and green volcanic minerals. Here, you can enjoy some of the best panoramic views. Likewise, you can participate in the best snorkelling of the Galapagos. More importantly, don’t miss this opportunity to meet rare Galapagos penguins! Next, you’ll visit Sullivan Bay, and walk across the fantastic formations of the Pahoehoe lava flows.
Day 08- South Plazas Islands & Santa Fe Island –Monday
This morning, put on your swim trunks because the Galapagos yacht will take you to South Plaza Island. When here, you can visit one of the largest sea lion colonies in the archipelago! Then, in the afternoon, you’ll visit Santa Fe Island, where the diverse range of animals and birdlife boasts two unique endemic species: the Barrington land iguana and the Santa Fe rice rat.
Day 09 – Witch Hill & Pitt Point – San Cristobal Island – Tuesday
Next, sail to San Cristobal Island to visit Witch Hill, where you will find an impossibly perfect beach of soft white sand and turquoise sea, and fabulous views of Kicker rock and the rugged coastline. Next, you’ll explore Pitt Point, the only place in the Islands where you can find nesting places for all three species of boobies: Nazca, blue-footed and the rare red-footed!
Day 10 – Lobos Island – San Cristobal Islands – Guayaquil
Finish your Galapagos luxury cruise with a visit to Lobos Island, so called for the many hundreds of sea lions that inhabit it. Afterwards, bid goodbye to the magical Islands and board your plane back to mainland Ecuador, full of wonderful memories of your luxury tour of Ecuador and the Galapagos!
