Start the Humantay Lake tour from Cusco right and rise before the rooster crows: for at 3 am, you will be picked up from your Cusco accommodation for a 4-hour journey to the village of Soraypampa. Located in the luxuriant valley of the Apurimac River, you will enjoy breakfast here before trekking to the lake.
Ready or not, you will now ascend the mountain for 1.5 hours, walking at 1200 ft for 2 miles. Of course, a few stops are mandatory to fully embrace the awesome scenery. After conquering the hill, you can gaze down at the turquoise lake, engulfed by steep peaks and a crystalline glacier.
