On this exciting four day adventure tour, you will delve deep into the fascinating and mysterious world of the Amazon rainforest. Staying in a boutique rainforest lodge, you will enjoy accommodation in charming bungalows, waking every day to the soothing sounds of the jungle. Travel deep into untouched tropical rainforest and explore remote lakes by boat, where you can observe and photograph an array of exotic bird and animal life, including the prehistoric hoatzin, monkeys, sloths and caimans. You will have the opportunity to fish for piranhas and get up close with pink Amazon dolphins; it is such a rare treat to watch them playing and swimming past you. Experience a totally different Amazon by night, gliding effortlessly through the jungle on a motorised canoe in search of nocturnal wildlife. For a unique cultural experience, visit the community of San Juan de Yanayacu and connect with the local villagers.

DESCRIPTION:

Day One: Iquitos – Muyuna Lodge – Day Boat Trip – Evening Boat Ride 

Your Iquitos Amazon Adventure starts by firstly arriving in Iquitos. Here you’re able to accomplish last-minute preparations for your trip, like purchasing extra bug spray or flashlight batteries. Next, you’ll sweep the Amazon via speedboat, arriving thereafter at your accommodation, the charming Muyuna Lodge. After a warming introduction from lodge staff, you’ll hop in a boat again to begin your day activity. Cruising to local lakes, help your tour guide spot birds, sloths and monkeys hidden in vast jungle greenery. Following sunset, take an evening boat ride as daylight melts, searching for nocturnal creatures like caimans.

Day Two: Lake Casha – Piranha Fishing at Lake Purara and Corrientes – Night Walk 

Rise and shine: the first activity of the day is a morning boat cruise to Lake Casha. Train your eyes to spot darting wildlife, as monkeys and birds are residence of this region and, as you will soon discover, these creatures are an elusive bunch. After enjoying lunch, you are given the opportunity to go piranha fishing at the lakes Purara and Corrientes. While waiting for your catch, strangler vines and the prehistoric bird, the hoatzin, will enchant your imagination. Once dinner is over, you’ll take a night walk in search of creepy crawlers like tarantulas, giant frogs and anacondas.

Day Three: Jungle Walk – San Juan de Yanayacu Community – Nocturnal Canoe Ride 

Eat a hearty breakfast, for the activity following thereafter is a 5-hour jungle walk. Along the trail, you’ll witness a vivacious array of flora and fauna, and perhaps even spot the rare Ocelot. Following a well-deserved lunch, your guide will then lead you to the San Juan de Yanayacu community. Here you can connect with locals, buy handicrafts or merely explore this remote village. End the day by taking another nocturnal canoe ride through the jungle.

Day Four: Pink River Dolphins – Victoria Regia – Departure to Iquitos 

Today, you’ll have breakfast onboard a small boat, where you can witness the endangered Amazon river dolphins, or search for iguanas on the riverbank. You’ll also glide alongside the biggest aquatic plant in the world, the famous Victoria Regia. Over lunch, you can discuss all of your fabulous wildlife encounters during the Iquitos Amazon Adventure before boating back to Iquitos.

Day One:

Arrive in the city of Iquitos for last-minute preparations. Embark on an exciting speedboat journey along the Amazon River before settling in to your accommodation at the lovely Muyuna Lodge. Cruise to local lakes by boat in search of birds, sloths and monkeys. Following a picturesque sunset, take an evening boat ride to search for nocturnal creatures, including caimans.

Day Two:

Take a morning boat cruise to Lake Casha to seek out different species of birds and monkeys. After enjoying a tasty lunch, you will visit the lakes of Purara and Corrientes to fish for piranha, see strangler vines and spot the colorful prehistoric bird, the hoatzin. After dinner at the lodge, take a thrilling night walk in search of tarantulas, giant frogs and anacondas.

Day Three:

After breakfast, enjoy a leisurely five hour walk to view a vast range of flora and fauna and perhaps even spot the local ocelots. Following a delightful outdoor lunch, you will visit the community of San Juan de Yanayacu, where you can connect with the locals, buy handicrafts or simply explore this remote village. End the day with a night canoe through the jungle.

Day Four:

Today you eat breakfast on board a small boat and from here you will witness the majestic pink Amazon dolphins. Cruise alongside the biggest aquatic plant in the world, the famous Victoria Regia, and search for iguanas on the riverbank. Over lunch, you can discuss all the fabulous wildlife encounters you have had before bidding farewell to Muyuna Lodge and taking the boat back to back to Iquitos.
