Day One : SUNDAY -Lima: City of Kings

Your Peruvian adventure begins in the vibrant, varied capital city of Lima. The origins of the city predate its foundation by the Spanish by several millennia, and its museums are full of the magnificent artistic treasures of the pre-Columbian civilizations that flourished throughout the coastal deserts of Peru. You can even visit the pre-Inca pyramid of Huaca Pucllana, right in the middle of the trendy Miraflores district! Of course, Lima boasts its fair share of colourful colonial architecture. The Plaza de Armas was once the centre of the Spanish Empire in South America, when the seafaring Spaniards used Lima's strategic coastal location to establish it as their richest, most important town. However, one of the best places to admire Lima's post-Columbian architecture is to the north of the city centre in Callao. La Punta, a tiny peninsula jutting out into the Pacific was once an exclusive enclave for Lima's elite, and still retains many historic mansions, as well as some of the city's best beaches and finest restaurants!   Inclusions Private transfer between airport and hotel in Lima Accommodation in Hotel B in Barranco (or an establishment of the same standard) Welcome cocktail.
2

Day Two : MONDAY Explore Lima's Barranco district

After breakfast in your hotel, you will explore the district of Barranco with your English-speaking guide. With street theatre, art displays and and live music on every corner, its no wonder that bohemian Barranco is known as the SoHo of Lima! Peek into art galleries housed in the former colonial mansions of the social elite of bygone days, and discover how the district's artists interpret traditional Peruvian culture in their work. Barranco's location is as charming as its architecture: its beautiful boardwalk, situated along the coastal cliffs, offers a perfect spot to watch the sun go down over the Pacific Ocean. In the afternoon, you will head back to your hotel for a lesson in traditional Peruvian cuisine. Discover why the country's gastronomy, which blends East Asian, indigenous Andean and Amazonian flavours, has made Peru a real magnet for foodies! You will learn how to make ceviche, prepared with fish fresh from the Pacific Ocean, and toast your success with your own home-made pisco sours. Included: Private English-speaking tour guide  Barranco walking tour Two-hour cooking lessons Accommodation in Hotel B in Barranco (or an establishment of the same  standard).
3

Day Three :TUESDAY Cusco – Urubamba

Your private transportation will pick you up from your hotel, and take you to the airport for your flight to Cusco. Upon arrival, your private tour guide and driver will meet you at the airport to whisk you off straight to the Sacred Valley! Begin your Andean adventure immersed in tradition, with a visit to the village of Awanacancha. Here, you can browse for hand-woven textiles, and visit the town's herds of llamas, alpacas, vicuñas and guanacos. Next, you will visit the Pisac, where you can visit the famous market, before exploring the beautiful Incan ruins. Set in the mountainside high above the village, the Pisac ruins are considered one of Peru's finest Incan sites. Boasting the largest known Inca cemetery and an exquisite temple complex carved from pink granite, and surrounded by vast agricultural terraces (not to mention spectacular views over the Sacred Valley!) the Pisac ruins will take your breath away. Make a note of how the terracing perfectly complements the natural curvature of the valley; just one of many examples of the careful harmony between the Incas' architecture and their natural environment. Inclusions: Private English-speaking tour guide Private transportation Admission to Pisac ruins and Awanacancha village Accommodation in Hotel Sol y Luna (or an establishment of the same  standard).
4

Day Four :WEDNESDAY Urubamba – Ollantaytambo - Machu Picchu

Step back in time with a visit to the fascinating town of Ollantaytambo, celebrated as the best surviving example of Inca city planning. Its narrow, cobblestone streets have been continuously inhabited since the thirteenth century, and the modern population lives in the same traditional "canchas" (houses) once owned by the Inca elite. Ollantaytambo also serves as the gateway to Machu Picchu, so it is from here that you will board the Vistadome train to Aguas Calientes. From here, you will take a bus to Machu Picchu. The awe-inspiring Inca city of Machu Picchu is a real bucket-list visit for many travellers. Set in an extraordinarily beautiful location surrounded by cloud-capped, forested mountains, this incredible archaeological site is the best known in South America, if not the world. Wander through magnificently preserved ruins, and discover the city with your expert guide: how it was lost for centuries, only to be rediscovered by Hiram Bingham; how the buildings were constructed in perfect harmony with the surrounding mountains; how the beautiful architecture blends aesthetic and utility. Take the train back to Ollantaytambo with your head and camera full of lifelong memories of the jewel in the crown of the Sacred Valley, Machu Picchu. From here, your private transportation will take you to your hotel in Cusco. Includes: Private English-speaking tour guide Private transfer to Ollantaytambo Site admission to Machu Picchu Return bus tickets between Aguas Calientes and Machu Picchu Vistadome train tickets Private transfer from Ollantaytambo to Cusco Accommodation in Hotel El Mercado (or an establishment of the same standard).

Day Five : THURSDAY Cusco

Spend the day exploring the capital of the Inca Empire, which today boasts a fascinating blend of elegant colonial architecture and original Inca constructions. In the morning, your private tour will take in the highlights of the city centre: the Plaza de Armas, where the mix of traditionally-dressed locals and modern tourists reflects the contrasting styles of Incan and Spanish architecture; the hill-top, bohemian San Blas neighbourhood where you can shop for souvenirs in artsy boutiques; the huge, diverse San Pedro Market where you can buy anything from alpaca knitwear to a whole sheep's head! After a lunch of traditional Peruvian fare, your private transportation will take you up the mountainside to discover Cusco's most important archaeological sites: Kenko, Puka Pukara and Sacsayhuamán. These magnificent ruins are a fine example of Incan construction techniques. You will marvel over the meticulously carved boulders, shaped in such a way that the wall fits together without the use of cement. This fascinating technique has proved extremely resilient to the region's natural dangers; indeed, the 1950 earthquake left many colonial walls in ruins, revealing the perfectly undamaged Inca constructions underneath. Includes: Private city tour (private transport, English-speaking tour guide) Gourmet lunch in Cusco Accommodation in Hotel El Mercado (or an establishment of the same standard).
