Day 1 | Lima: 

Kick off your Peru culinary experience in Lima, Peru’s capital and a real highlight for food lovers in Latin America. With everything from freshly prepared street food to Michelin star restaurants, you’ll be spoilt for choice!

Day 2 | Lima:

Today your Lima gourmet tour begins in earnest, as you explore the city and its gastronomic delights with the help of our local experts. Your Lima city tour will cover three of the city’s most charming districts, before finishing just in time for lunch with pisco tours and a ceviche cooking class! You’ll round off the day with dinner in a fascinating gourmet restaurant, built within a genuine pre-Inca site.

Day 3| Lima to Arequipa:

Continue your Peru culinary experience in Arequipa, Peru’s most beautiful city! Although barely a tenth of Lima’s size, Arequipa boasts a high class gastronomic tradition that punches above its weight, and is the birthplace of many of Peru’s best-loved dishes. Explore the dazzling colonial city centre and discover why Arequipa is often nicknamed the “white city”, before strolling through the enchanting, vibrantly colourful streets of Santa Catalina Monastery.

Day 4 | Arequipa:

Enjoy a real foodie adventure in a Peruvian picanteria, and swap Michelin stars for honest working-class food! Sit down with Arequipa’s workers as they come in for their lunch break, and enjoy spicy stuffed peppers, crawfish chowder and tripe soup, washed down with a glass of Peruvian chicha. The picanteria is a uniquely Arequipan style of eating, and one that is sure to be a highlight of your Peru culinary experience!

Day 5 | Arequipa to Cusco:

Today you will travel to the historic city of Cusco, once the heart of the Inca Empire! Boasting a fascinating mixture of elegant colonial architecture and original Inca walls, Cusco is a truly unique destination. Your local tour guide will introduce you to the city’s most important features – from the ancient Inca Sun Temple to the bohemian San Blas neighbourhood – before your free time to explore at your own pace.

Day 6 | Cusco:

Complement your Peru culinary experience with a grounding in the history of the country’s favourite spirit! Today you will visit the excellent Museo del Pisco, an innovative museum-bar. Here, you can find out everything there is to know about Peru’s national drink before sampling it for yourself! Try several varieties of pisco, as well as the bar’s very own original cocktails, accompanied by hand-selected tapas.

Day 7 | Cusco:

The Plaza de Armas is the beating heart of Cusco, the hub of the city’s gastronomy, and the location of today’s Peru cooking lesson! Your authentic Peru culinary experience will begin with a visit to the famous San Pedro market to pick up ingredients, from which you will craft a full menu of Peruvian haute cuisine. Enjoy your delicious lunch from a balcony overlooking the plaza, combining fine food with people-watching!

Day 8 | Cusco to the sacred valley:

Today you will leave Cusco behind and venture into the Sacred Valley to continue your Peru culinary experience. Your first stop will be the Hacienda Sarapampa, where you will enjoy a real foodie adventure! The owners will explain to you the workings of their corn farm, before inviting you to join them in a sumptuous seven course meal. Next, you will journey deeper into the valley to the village of Urubamba, where you will spend the night.

Day 9 | The sacred valley to Machu Picchu Pueblo:

From Urubamba, you will continue to the fascinating town of Ollantaytambo, where little has changed since the time of the Incas. Here you will take a luxury train ride to Aguas Calientes, the gateway to Machu Picchu. The train ride is a treat in itself: with panoramic windows, you can enjoy unobstructed views of the spectacular scenery of the Sacred Valley!

Day 10 | Machu Picchu to Cuzco:

Begin your day bright and early for your guided tour of the awe-inspiring Inca city of Machu Picchu. Set in an extraordinarily beautiful location surrounded by cloud-capped, forested mountains, this incredible archaeological site is the best known in South America, if not the world. After your tour, spend some time exploring at your own place, before your transfer back to Cusco.

Day 11 | Cusco to Lima:

Fly back to Lima full of fabulous food and wonderful memories from your South America culinary vacation! You will have gained new culinary skills, and have discovered the very best that Peru has to offer, from its finest cuisine to its most spectacular ancient ruins.

Your full 10 day tour of the country of delicious delights begins tomorrow.

An introduction to Peru’s staple dish and drinks

Today you’ll be taken under the wing of Lima’s gastronomic experts as a combined city tour and food workshop introduces you with full force to a classic Peruvian menu. You’ll be taken round three of the city’s most enchanting districts, stopping along the way to encounter the essences of artistic district Barranco, indulging in the offers of glamorous San Isidro. Back in the kitchen you’ll be creating and tasting the national drink of Peru, Pisco Sour, before crafting a ceviche of your very own. You’ll be finishing the day in a gourmet restuarant built within a pre Inca archaelogical site; mixing modern and ancient for the close of a fascinating first day.

Flying to the White City of Arequipa

Is Arequipa the most charming city in Peru? You can make your mind up for yourself, as today you’ll be flying down to discover its white stone streets and undeniably high class gastronomy. Get to know the city that though a tenth of Lima's size holds itself at an equal if not a higher level of prestige. A city tour will teach you the significance of Mount Misti, an active volcano that towers above Arequipa, as well as showing you some of the city’s main attractions, including landmarks such as the Santa Catalina monastery and the delightful houses and buildings that surround the main square.

Wave goodbye to silver service at a local picanteria

A Peruvian picanteria is an unapologetically local experience, and visiting one in Arequipa (itself the birthplace of many of the country’s best loved dishes) will really make you feel like you’ve hit the foodie jackpot. Open only at lunchtime when workers flood in to take their fill of spicy stuffed peppers, crawfish chowder and tripe soup. Wash this down with a glass or two of Chicha, Peru’s variety of the continent's famous fermented corn beer. This is honest food served excellently, and it’s only in Arequipa that you’ll have an experience like it.

Voyaging to the heart of Inca civilisation

Today you’ll be completing the Holy Trinity of Peruvian cities as you arrive in Cusco. Once the heart of the Inca Empire- the largest of its kind in the world- Cusco truly feels like a step back in time as you’re surrounded by mountainous rich history. You’ll be getting to know the city on this day of arrival with a tour that’ll leave you with a lasting impression of the Inca Empire and the beautiful city that was once its capital. Enjoy the rest of the day at your leisure.

Perfecting your art at the Pisco Museum

If there’s a cocktail bar in Cusco that beats the Pisco Museum for quality and depth of knowledge, we want to know about it. See for yourself as you spend part of your day getting to know more about the drink that brings Peruvians together in celebration at any opportunity. You’ll be able to try out several varieties of this grape brandy- choosing tapas pieces to go with them- all the while learning about the history of the drink on the walls around you. Spend the rest of the day as you wish- perhaps there’s a restuarant that’s caught your eye? We are of course happy to give recommendations at any point.

There are a small clutch of restaurant´s in Cusco that are regarded to be the city’s very best. Today you’ll be visiting one right in the centre of Plaza De Armas to enjoy a cooking class that’ll leave you feeling like a gastronomic superstar. After an hour tour of Cusco’s bustling San Pedro market to get a sense of the city’s culinary commerce, you’ll return to the restaurant to learn how to cook a menu of fine Peruvian cuisine, led by a top chef. Lunch will be taken overlooking the square as you contemplate today’s learnings, digesting a lunch of the finest food.

You will have no doubt been spending the last two days gazing up at the mountains that surround  you and wondering what it is that surrounds them. Today you’ll find out what it is that lies behind them as you journey into the Sacred Valley. Your first stop will be the refined Hacienda Sarapampa, a working corn farm whose owners will invite you to learn about their livelihood before joining them in a sumptuous seven course tasting menu. With ingredients taken directly from the Sacred Valley, this is organic food on a new level. After this charming cultural exchange, you’ll continue on through the Sacred Valley to the small village of Urubamba, where you’ll spend the night.

A day of transit will take you closer to Machu Picchu, a site that no trip to Peru is complete without. From Urubamba you’ll continue onward to the charming town of Ollantaytambo, where a first class train ride complete with lunch will transport you to Aguas Calientes. Based at the foot of Machu Picchu, take a free afternoon in the town in order to prepare for your day at the ancient Inca citadel that has been named one of the New 7 Wonders of the World.

Rise early for this unforgettable day of site seeing. You’ll make your own way up to the site of Machu Picchu, where a guide will be waiting to escort you into the site. Together you’ll learn over the course of two and half hours the vast significance of the ruins, gaining a crucial insight into the lives of the Incas and how they were able to build such a phenomenal structure in the clouds. You’ll have free time to wander the ruins yourselves, absorbing the history that surrounds you, perhaps befriending one of the local llamas. Descend back down to be transported back to Cusco, where you’ll be spending your final night.

Taking a flight back to Lima and saying goodbye to the Inca Empire will signify the end of your gastronomic, historic and cultural tour of Peru. Rest easy knowing that you have tried and seen all of the finest offerings of the country, from its national dishes to its proudest ancient monument. You’ll be able to return home able to impress friends with your new culinary skills  and share the memories of seeing Machu Picchu, the world’s most famous Inca ruin.
