Pie Experiences provides Environmental and Sustainable Trips

We only have one planet and its everyone’s responsibility to protect mother earth. At PIE Experiences, we are aware of the effect tourism has on the environment, and so we are constantly working towards leaving as little footprint as possible. Trips with us are dedicated to benefiting the lives of the local people, while respecting the animals, the land, and all works of conservation. Pie Experiences is also proud to have been awarded the respectable TourCert check in 2016. This means the company is committed to having little impact on the environment. By working closely with the local people, we have built sustainable trips that help you gain an understanding of their way of life. We also regularly review our trips to try to create more ways to encourage responsible tourism. This, above all gives us a chance to give back to the communities.

Understanding Local Heritage

Embrace a different culture to your own, with our sustainable trips. Knowledge is power to protect the environment. Meet an ancient Incan community in the sacred valley of Peru and learn how the Amaru people make and dye their textiles.  Immerse yourself with local indigenous families in the Colca Valley. This culture predates the Incas and is a truly rare experience to be remembered for a lifetime. Sail to the floating islands on the highest lake in the world, Lake Titicaca from Puno, Peru. Spend a night here with a local family and really get a feel for Quechua life. Travel to the Patabamba community and learn to weave textiles with natural alpaca and llama wool. Travel to the Amazon rainforest city of Iquitos which is only accessible by plane or boat, meet the native people and learn how they live in this extreme environment. Stay with a local family in Kuelap which is within walking distance to the third highest waterfall in the world, Gocta waterfall.

Leave No Footprint But Create Lasting Memories

Discover The Hidden Inca Trail or the Classic 2 Day Inca Trail to one of the new world wonders, Machu Pichu. Learn about the Incan culture whilst admiring the vast wildlife that lives in the Sacred Valley. We are working to reduce the amount of plastic used on these treks by providing reusable water bottles and purifiers. Navigate through The Amazon Rainforest on the Selva Viva Eco-Cruise. Money used to buy tickets for these sustainable trips goes back to helping the local communities. It provides drinking water, medication and reforestation of the area. Explore the national reserve of Pacaya Samaria, near the city of Iquitos. Live with a native family, fish in the river and admire the species that live in this protected rainforest reserve. Experience whale watching in Punta Sal, on the north coast of Peru. Guided by a marine biologist, learn about humpback whales and how we need to protect this giant species, and even listen to their songs using a hydrophone.

We only have one planet and its everyone’s responsibility to protect mother earth. We know travelers today are aware of the effect tourism has on the environment, wanting to leave as little footprint as possible. At Pie Experiences, we feel under obligation not to leave a negative trace from our tourism. Therefore we have committed to creating trips that benefit the lives of the local people. We work to ensure conservation and respect the animals and land visited.

We also regularly review our trips to try to create more ways to encourage responsible tourism. This, above all gives us a chance to give back to the communities.
