ITINERARY OVERVIEW 3 Day Uyuni Adventure

DAY 1 – GHOST TRAINS, SALT HORIZONS & A SUNSET THAT STICKS TO YOUR BONES

You land in Uyuni, lungs tight from the altitude, and by 10:00 AM you’re rolling across the altiplano. First stop: the Train Cemetery, where rusted locomotives rot beautifully under the desert sun.

In Colchani, salt is carved, sold, and lived. Then—Salar de Uyuni. Just white. Endless, brilliant white. No edge, no echo. Only salt and sky.

We skip the crowds and head to Isla Sajchilla, where ancient cacti rise from fossil coral. You picnic there, surrounded by silence. Later, Chantani offers desert art, bones, and mystery.

As the sun collapses into the flats, you’re holding a glass of wine, watching firelight bounce off salt.

You sleep at Tambo Coquesa, the only lodge on this side of the Salar. The rooms? Built of salt. Silent, warm, and staring straight at Tunupa Volcano.

DAY 2: CROSSING THE WHITE DESERT & THE WILDLIFE OASIS

You wake up at the edge of the world—Tambo Coquesa, still and silent, the Salar de Uyuni outside your window. One last drive across the salt sea, as the morning sun burns across a frozen horizon.

Next stop: Isla Incahuasi, where ancient cacti rise like sentinels and the views spin your sense of scale. You climb, breathe, shoot photos. It feels impossible—and yet, there you are.

Leaving the salt behind, we cut through Colcha K, a quiet Andean village lost in time. Lunch is local, simple, real. Then comes Salar de Chiguana—rail tracks slicing through salt and silence.

The land climbs. At Mirador de Collague, the desert turns wild—peaks, lava fields, wind. By late afternoon, we reach Laguna Cañapa, where flamingos wade through blue water like they own the place.

As the light softens, we arrive at Laguna Hedionda. Flamingos, mountains, a lodge by the shore. You eat dinner watching the sun die behind volcanoes.

After a long day crossing salt deserts, remote villages, and volcanic landscapes, we sit down for a well-earned three-course dinner at the lodge.

DAY 3: VOLCANOES, BOILING EARTH & A THERMAL FAREWELL

“You wake up surrounded by silence, broken only by the distant calls of flamingos. The air is crisp, the sky a perfect shade of blue. Today, we venture even deeper—where the earth boils, the landscapes turn red, and the journey ends with a dip in a natural hot spring at the edge of the world.”

You wake up to flamingos in the mist. The light is gold. The silence, deep. After breakfast by Laguna Hedionda, you head out across the altiplano—toward Mars, or something like it.

Laguna Honda, Laguna Chiarcota—mirror lakes full of life. Then the wind kicks up red dust as you enter the Siloli Desert, home to the surreal Stone Tree, shaped by centuries of silence.

But the real shock comes at Laguna Colorada—a red lagoon burning with flamingos and mineral fire. It’s not a view, it’s an atmosphere.

Then comes the earth itself: Sol de Mañana, a boiling, breathing land of steam and sulfur at nearly 5,000 meters.

At last, the reward: a soak in Polques Hot Springs, steam rising, mountains watching, and the whole desert stretched below.

The Journey Back

With our minds full of unforgettable memories, we start our return journey to Uyuni. We’ll drive back through more breathtaking landscapes, stopping for final photo ops and enjoying the last stretch of this legendary trip.

We operate year-round, but each season offers a different experience:

8. Can I continue to San Pedro de Atacama after the tour?

Yes! However, we are the only company with a unique itinerary that reaches Hito Cajón (the border with Chile) at 3:00 PM. Since public transportation is not available at that time, we can arrange a private transfer to San Pedro de Atacama for an additional cost of $140 per service.

👉 If all four participants in the tour choose to continue to San Pedro de Atacama, they can split the cost among themselves. Let us know in advance if you’d like to arrange this transfer.

9. Where does the tour start and end?

The tour starts and ends in Uyuni, but with the optional private transfer, you can continue to San Pedro de Atacama after the tour.
