Itinerary Overview:

Day 1 | Puerto Maldonado to the Amazon: After flying into Puerto Maldonado, you will be transported down the Madre de Dios River by boat to the Inkaterra Reserve Amazonica. Once there, you can choose from a variety of Inkaterra Reserva Amazonica excursions, but we recommend a guided walk to discover the native birds and insects. In the evening, dine on a sumptuous dinner before retreating to your cabana or enjoying the shared areas.

Day 2 | The Amazon: Fill up with a delicious breakfast before embarking on a wildlife safari by canoe. You’ll have a chance to see the giant river otter, red howler monkeys, red-bellied macaws, anacondas, side-neck turtles, and black caimans! Afterwards, you’ll travel along the 29-meter high Inkaterra Canopy Walkway – a series of viewing platforms connected by suspension bridges. Look for toucans, woodpeckers, trogons, monkeys, and sloths before returning to the dining room for dinner.

Day 3 | The Amazon: Explore the rainforest on foot, looking for piranha, caiman, turtles and birds. Next, you will visit the Gamitana Farm to learn about local agricultural practices. In the evening, you will venture out by boat for the opportunity to spot snakes, caimans, and other nocturnal creatures.

Day 4 | The Amazon to Puerto Maldonado: Make the most of your final morning in the Amazon before returning to Puerto Maldonado and the impressive Butterfly Sanctuary. Transport is provided back to the Puerto Maldonado airport for your departure flight.
