We will pick you up at your Cusco accommodation at a time of your choice in the morning. After making our way to the pottery workshop in Santiago, the team will show you around their working space surrounded by beautiful gardens and filled with rustic tools and machinery.
Your Cusco Pottery Class will begin with learning all about clay including how to select, cut, mold, and prepare it for the pottery wheel.
Afterward, you will have a go at the pottery wheel itself. Surprisingly, it will be a lot harder than it looks to create a symmetrical piece! The process usually continues with firing the clay to get it to harden. However, as this does take some time, we will have some already-fired pottery available for you to continue with. Select a bull or horse figurine and paint it as you wish. At this point, it is time to part with our hand-painted pieces which will remain at the workshop to dry. You will be able to pick it up 2 days later if you wish. On a side note, throughout the class, we will have refreshments and little snacks available.

Peru has countless tourist highlights to offer. My personal highlight was visiting the pottery in Cusco. Here I learned eagerly how the souvenirs – birds and bulls – are made. And such souvenir donkeys can also be painted on site. The whole course was perfectly organized, the gate guide was friendly and in a good mood, and the pottery part of the course was competent. I can only recommend the visit. It is an experience beyond the tourist highlights. Thank you for everything.❤️Barbara , Switzerland
